Virgin Media Shorts is now in it’s fourth year and is already the UK’s largest short film competition. It’s a great opportunity for film schools and graduates to showcase their ideas to a large audience, and perhaps turn some industry heads in the process. Short films, just like music videos, are about ideas, creative and original ideas, executed well. They embrace the time restrictions relying on simple stories and bold visuals to hold their audience. The winner, “2:20” by Jason Wingard, tells the story of a young man who acquires a pair of glasses that enable him to see how long everyone has left to live. It’s by far the most interesting of the shortlist, but the rest are still worth a watch. Click here to view them all.
